Incident: PharMerica suffered a breach where an unauthorized party compromised its computer systems and accessed sensitive patient data.

Mitigation Technique: PharMerica collaborated with Experian, an identity protection and fraud monitoring service, to provide affected individuals with comprehensive protection. This partnership ensures continuous monitoring of compromised data and timely alerts to any suspicious activities.

4. Kodi (May 2023)

Incident: Hackers managed to download complete database backups containing public forum posts, team forum posts, and direct messages of 400,635 Kodi users.

Impact: The breach exposed users' private communications and forum discussions, potentially leading to privacy violations and social engineering attacks.

Mitigation Technique: Kodi is enhancing its security measures by revising admin roles, improving audit logging and backup procedures, and conducting a global password reset for users. These actions aim to strengthen data integrity and minimize the impact of future breaches.

5. Costa Rica Government Data Breach (April 2022)

Incident: The Conti ransomware gang breached the Costa Rican government, accessing and stealing 670GB of valuable data. They demanded a ransom of $20 million.

Impact: The breach compromised sensitive government information and posed a significant financial demand.

Mitigation Technique: The Conti ransomware operation was gradually dismantled, with the threat group shutting down its infrastructure and ransom negotiation sites. The government's response highlights the importance of promptly addressing ransomware attacks to prevent further damage.
